Poland-Moebius Syndrome Awareness
Poland-Möbius (Moebius) Syndrome is a rare neurological and congenital condition that effects the cranial nerve which limits facial expression and eye movement creating facial palsy. It can also cause physical abnormalities normally affecting the chest muscles and hand or limb deformities on one side of the body. Möbius (Moebius) Syndrome Features: Weak or paralyzed facial muscles (inability to smile or frown), an inability to move the eyes side-to-side, and potential issues with swallowing, speaking, or breathing.Poland Syndrome Features: Underdevelopment or total absence of the pectoral muscle on one side, rib cage deformities, and hand abnormalities such as webbed fingers (syndactyly) or underdeveloped fingers (brachydactyly)
Kevin “King Kj” Smith
Kevin or as the world knows him, as King Kj has beat the odds with his diagnosis of Poland-Moebius Syndrome. Born in 2012, he has discovered his own path of growth! For someone who doctors said wouldn’t walk, talk, or live a normal life. Kj has exceeded in many more ways that any of us could imagine. Not only has he thrived but he has also become a social media sensation! Meeting his favorite celebrities, gaining supporters, and educating the world about his medical diagnosis. Kj is changing the world, one day at a time. Showing his comedic personality via social media has elevated Kj’s level of confidence and is showing other kids that it’s okay to be who you are regardless of their diagnosis.
Ke’Niya “Keke” Wiseman
Ke’Niya “Keke” is an entrepreneur, actress, caregiver, special needs advocate, content creator, and much more. All though she wears many hats, her favorite job is being Kj’s big sister. Navigating the challenges of Kj’s neurological medical condition called Poland-Möbius syndrome, Keke has taken on the title of not only a caregiver but an advocate for siblings and family members of those with special needs. Born and raised in the DMV area, Keke has become a trail blazer and has created her own lane in the caregiver world. She has made it her passion to assist in the upbringing and medical care of her brother and from that it has created many opportunities for them both that some people could only dream about. Defeating the odds, Ke’Niya has created a social media platform showcasing the bond of her and Kj’s relationship that has gotten the attention of a lot of people worldwide and has given Kj the dream of meeting all of his favorite celebrities.
